The Test That Found the Problem

I supplied power from the starter fuse toward the starter signal circuit while using a test bulb in place of the starter. The bulb never illuminated. No continuity either. That told me the circuit could not carry power.

The Aftermarket GPS Installation

While inspecting the wiring, I found where the aftermarket GPS tracking device had been spliced into the starter signal circuit. Initially, I thought reconnecting those wires might solve the problem. It didn't.

That told me there was additional damage somewhere in the circuit. Rather than continuing to chase every inch of the factory harness, I verified one more thing. I connected the known-good power source from the starter fuse directly to the starter signal terminal. The vehicle started when the key was turned.
